Threads of Time Thursday (forgotten posts)

The past weeks have been chockablock full of page making and commission commissioning (if thats even a word) so i thought to dump a few things here that i havent done lately.

Some of the commissions i did for the Mountain Lion Graphic Card fund featuring a lovely little girl who has a lot of owl friends, the first avenger Captain America and the all mighty Thor!

Cloud Atlas hit me good so a i think a fanart of that beautiful post apocalyptic era was in order.
I was listening to the OST all the time while making this, it was pretty hard to tear myself away from it.

After rummaging through my work folder i stumbled upon this page which was made for the Activity book "Grafontas me Eikones" i made with Lida Tsene for Comicdom Press.
Moebius' death was so close to when i was making this book that i added some easter eggs to the mix and this here was one of them :)

In the Summer that passed i had made a tribute comic for the 200th anniversary from his birth. I chose to do a little parody between Quilp & Betsy from the Old Curiosity Shop and Dickens' love for Punch & Judy shows. (sorry its in Greek, i need to find some time to translate it) i.e. the comic was made for the magazine Diavazo in collaboration with Comicdom and the British Council.

And finally some warm-up sketches with two very different characters, Deadman and Tintin :)

I LOVE YOU GUYS!

In less than 24 hours, the kind people of the internets made buying a new Graphic Card for my mac possible!
I am overwhelmed by the response of everyone who sent me an email yesterday asking for a commission.

Godzilla is a favorite these days by the looks of it! :P

Over the next month or so i will be posting photos of the commissions as they roll out!

Thank you ALL as i would never have achieved this without your support.

Mike.

A Mountain Lion ate my Graphic Card.

Hey all! Hope you are well.

Recently i had the bad luck of having the Graphic Card on my Mac burn out on me and i am in need of raising some funds to buy a new one. Thank the Gods for a good friend who lent me one the time being.

Thats why i am doing a open call for anyone who would like a 20$ character commission. (shipping included)
Each commission will be drawn on an A4 size heavy stock paper. You can see below MODOK from Marvel that i did as an example. (Which is also up for sale to whoever wants it!)

So if you are interested and want me to draw your favourite character for you, then all you have to do is send me an email at michaeldialynas@gmail.com and let me know what you would like!

Plus my comics and prints are still available at my store.

Thank you very much in advance :)

UPDATE:
Nearly 70% has been raised! I want to say a Big Thank you to all those who commissioned me and bought stuff from my store!
You've been a big help.
I will post new commissions as i draw them, for now MODOK is still available!

The Amazing Peter Parker!

Last week i had the pleasure to see an advance viewing of The Amazing Spider-man.
And what i saw was nothing less than what i could expect from the director of 500 Days of Summer, Mark Webb, a touching tale of a teenage Peter Parker who falls in love with his high-school sweet heart, Gwen Stacey and has kick-ass fights with a giant lizard-man!
a lovely retelling with an action-packed and witty Spiderman!

If you loved 500 days then you'll have fun watching this.

Angry Thugs with Beautiful Mugs!

particularly the origin of Two-Face i had to do some fanart!
and YES thats the jacket from Batman Forever :P

This may sound weird but the joy of drawing disfigured characters is so relaxing and easy to do, especially before you start your normal art chores :)  Todays fun moment was the creation of Frankenstein War Monger with his cool eye-patch and cracked up face.

UPDATE
On a sketch spree tonight, moved over to Hellboy after reading the mini series
BPRD Hell on Earth: The Pickens County Horror.

THE MAN OF BAT

After the last post i've been playing around with some ideas on Batman's suit, mainly putting more emphasis on the parts that i like ig. the big black symbol, the bulky utility belt with gun holders and the hawk-like cowl.
Plus i thought of the idea of a detachable mask, he could change it with more scarier ones to strike fear into his enemies.

UPDATE
Superman & Batman ReDesigns were posted on Project Rooftop!

Some redesigns of DC's finest.

I had the sudden urge today to redesign Superman & Batman. i wanted to make Superman more serious and give him an authority feel, you know a more "protector of the Earth" type-thing and not the classic "guy with red undies and a cape"
Plus Batman is always cool to draw and you can always find different approaches to do for his costume.
i personally prefer the one that strikes fear in his enemies and a little less with the gadgets.
Dont get me wrong, i love the gadgets, i bet he has his own Bat-Pad with a Batsignal App but i feel that his face at least should be terrifying.

i'll probably post a full-figure Bats soon.

PS
the Avengers was AWESOME!

A Miner Thing

It's been a slow week desperately trying to recover from a stomach bug
and to warm up today i tried some new brushes with some old characters of mine (with my fingers-crossed that my photoshop wouldn't crash!)
i'd love to revisit this universe soon and make some sneaky stories :)

Gulliver the Giant Kitty ep.12 & Puss in Boots

Gulliver's Battle that has been going on for the past few weeks
has now come to an end with today's episode of Gulliver the Giant Kitty!

Click below to read (if you know Greek) the whole page.

And speaking of Cats i thought know would be the right time post some samples i did for the comic version of Dreamworks Animation's "Puss in Boots" for APE Entertainment.
These were fun to do even though i didnt get the gig.

Now looking at these samples i cant say for sure that they didnt have a hand in the creation of Gulliver.
i can see some connections :)

some concepts for Puss.

HULK SMASH LESSON!

The final lesson of my comic workshops came to an end
and a truibute to Loeb & Sale’s HULK: GREY smashed into the lesson terrifing the kids.
the fun part was when i had to explain why Hulk is grey and ugly & not green and good-looking.
